Michel David-Weill was born in 1932 in Paris. Last heir of a banking family, he is now retired from Lazard Ltd. His administrative directorships include Groupe Danone in France, membership in “The Institut” (Académie des Beaux-Arts), and, since 1988, President of the Conseil Artistique des Musées Nationaux. Continuing his cross-Atlantic life, he is a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a governor of the New York Presbyterian Hospital, and a board member of the French-American Foundation.
