Joann Sfar
Not yet forty, Joann Sfar stands as an icon and a tutelary figure for a whole generation of young cartoonists and graphic authors. He has written or collaborated on over 100 books, and his recent graphic-novel adaptation of Le Petit Prince has sold 100,000 copies in France and is being translated into twenty-three foreign languages. In the United States, he is best known for his children’s books, Little Vampire Goes to School and Little Vampire Does Kung Fu! Sfar was awarded the prestigious Jury Prize at Angoulême for The Rabbi’s Cat. He is also the director of the critically acclaimed biopic about Serge Gainsbourg to be released in Spring 2011 in the United States.
