Former dean at the University of Arts in Maine, France, Jean-Marie Constant is a history professor and a director of research in anthropological history. He is the author of several books, including Les conjureurs: le premier libéralisme sous Richelieu (Hachette, 1987), La Ligue (Fayard, 1996) and Naissance de l’Etat moderne (Belin, 2000).
