Sami Nair is a professor of political science at the University of Paris VIII. L’Empire face à la diversité is being published simultaneously in Spain by Arete (Random House-Mondadori). Nair was appointed Interministerial Representative for Joint Development in the French government, and became a member of the European Parliament in 1999. He is the author of many books, including Le déplacement du monde/ The World on the Move (Kimé, 1996), Politique de civilization/ The Policy of Civilization (Arléa, 1997), L’immigration expliquée à ma fille/ Immigration Explained to my Daughter (Seuil, 1999).
