Pierre Cassou-Noguès, a Doctor of Philosophy and a holder of the agrégation in mathematics, is a researcher at the Centre National de Recherches Scientifiques (CNRS) and teaches at the University of Lille III. He is the author of Hilbert (Les Belles Lettres, 2001), which appeared in the same collection, and De l’expérience mathémathique (Vrin, 2002). During the 2003-2004 term, he was awarded a Library Research grant from Princeton University for the study of Gödel’s papers.
