After a relatively brief career as a concert pianist (1961-1975) that took him around Europe, Japan, Russia, and North America, Fassina devoted himself to teaching, giving master courses at the Academy of Saluzzo in Turin and around the world: the Chopin Institute in Warsaw, the Academy of Nice, and the Juillard School, to name but a few. A legend among teachers, many of the world’s top pianists have sought him out for guidance, including Nelly Roukhadze, Lydie Barkeff, Blanche d’Harcourt, Jean-Rudolphe Kars, and Michael Beroff. Other past students include Jean-Louis Hagenauer (Indiana University School of Music), Isabelle Pourkat, Benjamin Moussay (Strasbourg Conservatory), Edoardo Torbianelli, and Jean-Philippe Bec.
