Description
For many, religious beliefs lie at the core of cultural identities. This can often lead to hatred and misunderstanding, and even more so at a time when religious terminology is widely used to depict current events around the world. In Petit lexique des idées fausses sur les religions, Odon Vallet explores world religions and corrects the many language approximations conveyed by the media. He redefines the meaning of the Islamic veil, secularity, and anti-Semitism among other things, and confronts common stereotypes that he calls “religiously correct” which have forever attached Buddhism to pacifism, Protestantism to tolerance, and Judeo-Christianity to guilt by providing historical facts proving otherwise. Petit lexique des idées fausses sur les religions offers seventy entries which can be read separately to refresh and increase understanding of our religious world.
