Description
This is a collection of previously unpublished essays and interviews, as well as one short story. The subjects cover Maistre, Heidegger, Boutang and Benjamin, book burning, textuality in Judaism, literacy and dissidence. As always, of primary concern is the act of reading and our relation to books within both religious and hieratical traditions. The unity in this collection comes from the progressive revelation of the sources from which Steiner has drawn his thinking as well as his conception of art.
