Une pièce montée has received the Prix Edmée de la Rochefoucauld, the Prix Renée Fallet 2007 and the Prix Livre de Poche 2008
In this award-winning debut novel, Vincent and Bérangère are, for better or for worse, getting married. The wedding has to be perfect in every way, from the flower girls to the wedding cake.
One by one, in alternating voices, nine characters narrate the day from their own point of view. Among them are Pauline, the bride’s niece, a naïve little girl who discovers injustice and cruelty; the priest, exhausted by the two weddings he’s already performed that day and unable to concentrate on his job; the groom, Vincent, whose ex-fiancée reappears after six years and mesmerizes him with her beauty; and the bride’s sister, the last unmarried member of the family, who has to endure the scathing comments of her bourgeois family about her eccentric way of life.
